The Camellia Street Grille #4

Everglades City, FL

At the end of a great day on Thursday, February 20, 2014, we returned to Everglades City for dinner at this quirky and funky waterfront grille.

Everything served here is local, fresh and homemade. There is a garden around the building to provide salad fixings and spices.
You order at the counter and pay your bill and leave the tip there at the end. As one server told me, "It takes a village here at Camellia".
I have referred to it as that "hippie place". There's an old VW Bug on the road serving as its sign; my kind of low-key unique eating experience.

It's a great place for a sunset as the dock seating is right on the Barron River. Great music is streamed throughout the inside and outdoor dining areas.
Live music on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

The only negative were the mosquitos after sunset. They were vicious!

Here is a great article about this off-beat eating place:

The Camellia Street Grille reminded me of the Don Henley song, "Sunset Grill":

"Let's go down to the Sunset Grill
We can watch the working girls go by

...Gaze out at the auburn sky
Maybe we'll leave come springtime
Meanwhile, have another beer"
