Located along the Hudson River and on the commuter train line, Cold Spring is a popular destination for New York City dwellers for a weekend getaway "into the country".
In fact, one of the shop owners told us she was excited for the next day when two cruise boats on a fall foliage tour filled with day visitors
would be making a stop in Cold Spring for shopping and dining.
From the Internet:
"The central area of the village is on the National Register of Historic Places
as the Cold Spring Historic District due to its many well-preserved 19th-century buildings."
