This is Tavy, my little ferret. He's around nine months old, male and the cutest little guy. If you've never heard of ferrets or know little about them, much is quite surprising. They are incredibly energetic and funny as hell their entire lives, which is around 6-10 years.
Ferrets have been domesticated for thousands of years, longer than cats. They actually can't live in the wild - at least not the domestic variety like Tavy here.
Tavy, in this picture, had been out playing in the front room for about an hour. That's usually his limit before he starts looking for a place to lay down and get some sleep. It was also about 80 degrees in the house and that's about the limit for ferrets before they start getting too hot. Ferrets have no ability to cool themselves through sweat glands like we do, so above 80 is very dangerous to them.
Anyway, here's the first pic of Tavy.
