Ranae came running in the office to grab a battery for her Nikon saying
there was a cool bug outside on a lily. She was right! I took a crapload
of shots with my 28-105 by itself, but it's no macro and I couldn't get
anything that got him BIG!
So I threw on a 12mm extension tube (Kenko - $125/set) and got about 2"
from the little bugger. He was over a railing, on a lily about 2' from me,
so I had to do a little manuervering to get close to him.
Got a few good shots, but this was the best.
Using the macro tube and a lens that starts out at f5.6 on the 105 end
and it being late in the afternoon/early in the evening, I had to go with
a flash AND 1600iso.So, a little grainy. That said, I think the $170 lens
performed terrifically!
And our little friend was sure photogenic.
