Some photos from a short trip to Bogota. The sights include:
-Tha candelaria & el centro - the original colonial center of the city, including plaza de Bolivar, the gold museum, etc...
-Monserrate - a church on top of a mountain overlooking the city. The ride up is very intersting, too. The funicular (cable-train?) climbs up a pretty steep incline, and goes through a mountain tunnel. There is also the teleferico (cable tram) which I did not ride.
- Chico and the Zona Rosa is the newer part of the city with more "upscale" nightlife.
Much of the city is decorated for Christmas now, some photos of Parque 93 show a little of that.
- Also I visited Zapaquira, a small town about 1.5 hours out of Bogota. There, there is a huge salt mine which contains the Iglesia de Sal. Definitely the most unique church I have ever seen, it far exceeded my expectation.
