Timing is always one of the key elements of photography. Part of timing is having a camera ready when events unfold. Skiing up at Snowbird when a late spring storm moved in that dumped 4-6 feet of fresh powder over 24 hours. Two days later they opened the top of the mountain. When I got to the top of the mountain I noticed that there was a larger than normal group of people just standing around. My curiosity got the better of me and I asked what everyone was waiting for. I found out that the ski patrol was etting to blow the cornice that was hanging over one of the runs. The photos in this gallery are from the blast and ensuing avalanche.
