I have one of these and would like to know how long it takes to hatch after the cacoon is formed.

Karen, hope you get this message. You could put your caterpillar in an aquarium with a screen top. It is most likely looking for a place to pupate. You don't have to add anything for the cocoon, as silkworms spin their own cocoons. Good luck!

I am so excited to identify this caterpillar I found on my deck It is fascinating! I have a preschool and will be starting again Septeer 12th adour first thee is "Insects". I elusive to meet is caterpillar until then. I am sure no one has ever seen one like this. I would like to know what environment I should keep it in, as well as what it eats. I would appreciate any info. Karen
