Mission trip to Haiti
we are building a church in La Reserve
it seem's we are all flying out different days
several arrive on the 5th, few on the 6th and the rest on the 8th and we leave on the 16th and 17th Feb.

The churches that are represented are:

Tue, 5 Feb. super Tue just for us. Bill, Martha, Joan, Jean, Jeff, Rachel, Curt and Beth leave the US and arrive in Haiti at the same time. unpack and ordered out pizza
then we started filling every plastic container up with water to freeze to keep things cold on the days we are gone

Wed, 6 Feb. Jim and Corey arrived. went to the grocery store, Caribbean Supermarket, then Stacey and Laura arrived
Jim, Bill, Curt, Jeff, Stacey cut out the pulpits
filling more containers to make ice

Thur, 7 Feb. the girls went to the basket shop and bought 13 dozen of eggs....while Jim, Bill, Curt, Jeff and Stacey put the pulpits together and cut out the facia boards for the church

Fri, 8 Feb. Corey dropped Elyse off at the outside market to pick up fresh fruit and veggies went and bought 10 more dozen of eggs, went to the grocery store and bought all the food that was needed for the trip
while the rest was at the house cooking school boy sandwich meat, meat loaf, sloppy joe's, ground meat for a casserol to freeze in plastic containers to store in ice chest for use later in the week, also brownies and cookies and freezing more water for ice
to arrive late today is Ray, Jim, Gary, David, Don, Rick, Bert, Devin, Bob, Glen, Bill, Harold, Edna, David, L.P. and Damaras
have pizza and salad for supper
empty out 16 more suitcases of food and organize them in large hard plastic travel totes and load on the truck to leave early in the morning

Sat, 9 Feb. we will be up around 4 am to eat a quick breakfast and pack our brown bag lunch and finish packing the truck and leave at 6 am for La Reserve
arrive that evening, took 9 hrs to go 145 miles

Sun, 10 Feb. we had a service in the new church with no roof then went and had a service with the Haitian's outside of their old church (we were using the old church as storage and men's sleeping room)

Mon, Tue, Wed the 11, 12 and 13 we were up early to work on the church till late in the evening
and on Wed evening we had the dedication service

Thur 14, packed up and left by 6:15 am to head back to Petionville
that night had a Haitian meal that was delicious

Fri 15th up for breakfast and went to the Baptist Mission for lunch and shopping then to the look out over the city of Port-a-Prince and Sunny Homes for the last bit of shopping or looking
that night we went out to this lovely restaurant for a meal

Sat, 16th Feb up early for departures through out the day
5 people flew out on the 10:05 flight (which was cancelled and changed from the Miami to the 12 noon Ft Lauderdale flight)
and after lunch 16 others flew out to Miami

Sun 17th, the remaining 7 flew out

all in all, it was a great time
