Terezín Memorial and the national cemetery in the Czech Republic.
Terezín was a concentration camp and ghetto used by the Nazis during World War II.
It served as a collection camp and a propaganda tool, cynically described as
a "spa" for elderly Jews, to conceal the true nature of the deportations.
More than 150,000 Jews were sent to Terezín before being deported to
extermination camps. The memorial was erected to preserve the memory of the
victims of racial and political persecution.
