The image shows the Grand Beguinage of Leuven, a historic and
well-preserved architectural complex. The beguinage dates back to
the 13th century and was originally established to house beguines,
lay religious women who lived in community without taking vows.
Today, it serves as a residential area for students, visiting professors,
and staff of KU Leuven, which purchased and restored the complex in the 1960s.
