Statue of Paep Thoo

This is a statue of Paep Thoon, a well-known folk figure from Leuven.
His real name was Anthoon vander Phalizen, and the nickname "Paep Thoon"
refers to his father's priesthood.
He lived in the 15th century (c. 1430-1487) and was organist
for the Brotherhood of the Holy Sacrament in St. Peter's Church.
He was known for his witticisms, jokes, and sarcastic remarks,
which told the truth. The bronze statue, created by Constant Permeke,
stands in a green corner of Leuven.
