Detail of the tomb of Duke Henry I of Brabant in St. Peter's Church
in Leuven.The monument is a mausoleum and depicts the duke reclining,
his head resting on a pillow.The duke reigned from 1190 to 1235 and played
an important role in the history of Brabant. The sculpture displays realistic details,
such as the beard and curls of hair, typical of the Gothic period.
St. Peter's Church is the oldest parish in Leuven, founded in 986.
