The tower in the image is the Valdice Gate, a prominent landmark in the
Czech town of Jičín. It is a Renaissance gate, originally built between
1568 and 1578 as part of the city's fortifications. The tower is 52 meters tall,
with a publicly accessible viewing platform at a height of 32 meters.
Its current appearance, including the wooden viewing platform and the
tent-shaped red roof, dates from a repair in 1840. The gate is a cultural
monument and hosts exhibitions and theatrical performances.
