This is the Jan Hus Monument in Prague's Old Town Square. The monument commemorates
the Czech theologian and reformer Jan Hus, who was executed as a heretic in 1415.
The monument was unveiled in 1915, on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of his
martyrdom. The bronze statue of Hus is surrounded by figures representing Hussite fighters,
exiled Protestants, and a young mother. It is an important symbol of Czech national identity
and its resistance to oppression. The monument was designed by the sculptor Ladislav Šaloun
and is considered a significant work of the Art Nouveau and Symbolist styles.
