This is the bronze statue of the famous Flemish Baroque painter Pieter Paul Rubens. The statue
is located on the Groenplaats in Antwerp. The statue was created by the Antwerp sculptor Willem
Geefs and installed in 1843. Rubens is known for his dramatic Baroque paintings and his work as
a diplomat. He lived in Antwerp from 1587 until his death in 1640. The statue is often
photographed with the Cathedral of Our Lady in the background.
