My latest project. For the past 20+ years I have been collecting parts to build a 914/6 GT. Then 4 years ago I was lucky enough to buy a Dealer (Stoddard) built “GT”. I am currently doing some restoration work on the car; the latest project being the brakes. I have accumulated a couple of sets of front 908 and rear vented or spaced brake calipers. Here is the first finished set; I think they turned out very nice. Probably the biggest challenge was the cad finish on the rear calipers, didn’t want too much "Bling", but defiantly they had to be perfect. The rear calipers were completely disassembled, media blasted, cleaned, polished, honed and all worn parts replaced. A tedious task for sure. Note the correct cross-clip, retaining pins and rebuilt with ALL new seals including the Square O-Rings even a set of period factory Ferodo DS-11 brake pads! The Ultra rare 908 front calipers were also completely disassembled, media blasted, cleaned, polished, honed, new stainless steel pistons, new cross over brake line, bleeder valves and most of the quick-change hardware has been faithfully repaired and reproduced where necessary. Again I have scored on a NOS set of 908 Ferodo DS-11 Brake Pads.

Now the good news/bad news. I have a significant amount of money invested in the restoration of these calipers, and I have more than I need for my race car. So, after the dust settles and I have added up all the invoices, one set will be offered for sale. In the near future I will be posting photos of the assembly of the next set in detail. Unfortunately I started this project several years ago (translated to: before I had a digital camera) so I don’t have much in the way of before photos. They weren’t too ugly, but the replacement parts pretty much tell the tale…
