Of course it helped that they weren't running the chicane back then. Also of note, that year was the American debut of the Porsche works 956/962. We all speculated that VE was there to help sort it out for its first trip to Daytona.

Yes! You are correct about Mr.Elford in the 928.The year was 1984 the race was the
24hours at Daytona.One of the co-drivers in the 928 was Richard(Dickie)Attwood.The
car had A/C and radio and electric windows.It's average speed for the 24hours was
faster than the current Daytona Protoypes which averaged 101mph in 2006.
