I was posted to Lippstadt in 1976 with 22 sigs transport troop.Absolutely loved Lippstadt,i liked it so much i took one of the locals home with me,her name Vera Silz. We have been back a few times to visit changed quite a bit though,one of the best things ever to happen in my life been posted to Germany love the country and the people, a few names that spring to mind capri bar,milky bar and uncle willy,s many a good night in them.

I was stationed in Lippstadt with 12th L.A.A.in 1957/58 (National Service). I was in RHQ Bty. and ran the PRI shop etc. Made many friends during my time there. Finished my time there in July 1958.

I went to Windsor Girls' School in Hamm too as a day pupil but remember being very unhappy there. It was just before moving back to the UK in '71 and I was there for less than an academic year I must have been 13. I had been very, very happy in Cornwall School, Dortmund and perhaps that was part of the problem. I seem to recall WGS had only just started taking day pupils. The happier memories I have of being there are going to chapel and morning break with hot chocolate and lovely cakes. I also remember I used to make macrame belts during lunchbreak. I think I was in Sandringham House. I went to Junior School in Lippstadt and have fond memories. My school history in Germany was, Lippstadt Junior, Kings School Gutersloh, Cornwall School Dortmund, Windsor Girls Hamm. My Dad was in the Royal Signals must have been with 22 Sigs then. On posting to Germany we started out living in Bockenforde in one of the flats but I can't recall the name of the road, when my brother was born in BMH Iserlohn we moved to a house in Lessingstrasse, Lippstadt, then moved to Melchtalstrasse Dortmund and finished our time in Soest. I remember The Strachan's from when I went to LP primary school. My name is Simon Neilson and I have a sister called Lisa. It must have been around 72-73. Had some lovely times in LP and have some very fond memories. Sat at my laptop on a very wet Saturday in June and decided to google Lippstadt and came across this site. My Dad was stationed at Churchill Garrison from 1966 - 1972 22 Signal Reg. Cpl Leslie Harris, and my lovely mum Kath. Both were very popular and well liked and enjoyed their Saturdays at the Cpl's Mess :-) My brother Alan and I had such a lovely happy life during Dad's time in the Army, only me left now unfortunately, but I have the best memories.

I would just like to 'Thank' everyone who was part of my Dad's army life in Lippstadt.Dad remained the fitest of men but sadly passed away suddenly and unexpectantly on the 22nd March 2012 aged 72.....although he still thought he was 22!
This is just a note in memorandum of CAPTAIN MICHEAL SLOAN....REME.His funeral will take place on Monday 2nd April 2012 in Guernsey Channel Islands at Trinity Church St Peters Port.

hi are you the keith preston who use to be friends with joe strachans daughters christine and carol.we lived in lippstadt from 71 to 73.Joe strachan used to be a sgt in the acc with 27 med regt.The other friends in the group were don taylor,alan campbell(mouse),tony winder just to name a few.Ihave fond memories of my time there.

A lot of these pics are taken from the area that i had a flat for a couple of years before moving into quarter's. cant remember the strasse name but P5284316-copy.jpg im sure is the back of the house where i lived.and the pic next to that was my favorite street,it had a sports/jagger shop where i used to but my guns and gun powder from for making your own rounds,

Hi there, yes very fond memories of lippstadt served with 27 regt from 1969-1986, and seem to remember a lot of names on here even though with the age thing i cant seem to put face's to those name's. but paul chadwick im sure i can piture him :-).
and for anyone that doesn't know 27 are having a reunion this sept at lippstadt, the dinner
(drink up)being polite lol. is in chappel.

I have just discovered this site featuring Churchill Barracks. I was one of an advance party when 41 Fld Regt RA moved from Essen in 1957. I was a regimental signaller in the signal troop which was, at the time, a new idea. Our Sergeant Major was named Smith and the officer in charge was Lt Adolf Black. I signalled for the C.O. whose name was Lt Col Glover. I seem to remember that he retired in 1958. If there is still anyone out there who was there in the 50's, i was known as 'Jake'

Hi my name is Chris Dunham and I served with 42 Regt RA from 1966 to 1969, It looks I am the first from my Regiment to leave a post. I have quite a few photos courtsey of our OCA of the Barracks www.42regt.com I dont recognise any of the photos on here but thats maybe because I like many others only ventured out at night to visit the local pubs, I found the beer excellent for the palate. If anybody has photos of the camp, especially of the chip van that used to park up at the guard room then I would really appreciate to see them

attached to 27 med rgt Ra 1969 to 1972. Lived in Bockenforde and my eldest daughter was born in lippstadt Evangalis Hospital. Ambulance could not make it to BMH Iserlohn. Loved Lippstadt and would love to go back for a visit

Have many fond memories from Lippstadt.Used to live in Bockenforde just down the road and travelled to school with Mrs Spears as our bus escort.The school was based within the barracks where my Dad was posted Captain Mike Sloan.Those were the days....

I have just found this website and see that I left a note in 2008. I wa with 22 Signal Regt Lad Reme, and lived at 10/1 Ebereschen Strasse. John Willmouth lived in the flat above, and Andy Strange lived in flat 2. I also remember Frank Woodall the fitter, and Eric Toombs who was in the Army Air Corps attached to the RA Regt next door to us in Churchill Barracks.

Just stumbled onto this site. I was in 27 Regiment 23 Battery and My OP Officer was Gerry Ginone. I left, because the Americans didn,t want me and went to 36 HAD Regt. in Dortmund.

Gerald Garcia - I am married to a lady with the last name of Lippsmeyer, coming from Minnesota USA. Am curious if any resident in either Lippstadt or near-by Wickede,spelled the same as my maiden Name "Lippsmeyer"?

Great Photo's of that area, I remember living in that area for around two year ish... some wish I could get back in some of the great people I knew from over there... Caroline McIntyre and her sister Moira, Dale Peacock.. I went to Lippstadt primary around 1976 before spending 5 years at Kings school. I believe it was on Bosch Strasse. I lived in Heinrich hertz Strasse which was also close by. Having just had a look at the school on google maps, it appears to be just a dustbowl footprint of what it used to be, everything has gone, except the playingfield with the running track around it that you went through the gate to get to

I was in Lippstadt 1990-1992 while my dad was in 22 Signal regiment. I am trying to remember the name of the street where I lived but I just can't. It was the same road that Lippstadt Primary School was on.

I have many fond memories of the town and will go back one day. Living in Germany while I was growing up were the best days of my life.

Great photos Bernd, which bring back happy memories. I was posted to LAD REME 27 Medium Regt RA in Lippstadt from 1968 to 1971. I have seen the refurbished Churchill Barracks on another site and on Google Earth. I hope to go back one day.

I used to visit Lippstadt during the years 1982-89,several times a year.I was working with Rote Erde,in the rings business. I used to stay in Alte brouhouse (I'm not sure about the spelling),which was a lovely family hotel,with a very good treat.I still have a good friend there, Karl Heintz Seidensticker,with whom we keep contact till nowaday.I have good memories from this lovely "stadt", and the lovely people there.The great pics.in this site took me back with nostalgic to this period of time, and made me a good day.

I have just forund your website. I was posted to 22 Signal Regt LAD REME in Lippstadt from 1968 to 71. It was a great place to live, and both of my children were born there (at the Iserlohn BMH). I was back in Lippstadt last year and it is very much the same as it was then, except the barracks are now flats.

I lived in lippstadt in 1972 - 1978 as dad was in the Royal Artillery. We lived on Akazien Strasse and from what I have seen there have been changes but nothing drastic. I'd like to go back and have a look one day.

Have just found your site about Lippstadt, I was there in 1952-1953 and have thought that I would like to go back and see what is like now and compare it with my national service days in the 15th. Med Reg R.A.but after reading the comments left on your site it looks like my old barracks are no longer there. The site of our barracks was I think an old German Airforce Barracks during WW2 and was situated about 1 mile from the station going out of town, it had large gates and a Gun on the pavement outside and the gardhouse was on the right as you entered

THANKS FOR THE GREAT PICS GARY ME MY BROTHER AND MY TWO SISTERS GREW UP IN LIPPSTADT AND LIVED ON CURRIE STASSE. MY DAD WAS IN 22 SIGNAL REGIMENT AND LEFT THE ARMY IN 92 WE SPENT TWELVE YEARS THERE AND WE HAVE LOTS OF FOND MEMORIES OF LIPPSTADT.

Hi, have just surfed in after looking for Churchill barracks. I was there with 132 Bty from 1969 until 1972. Managed to get a look at the barracks on Google Earth and although it looks basicaly the same, it is now turned into what looks like private houses.Can still see the old block we were in, but the NAFFI area is rebuilt.Spent many an hour in Willy Wolf's bar. Can't remember the correct name, but it was on the main road going into town, on the right.It was well before you get to the raiway tracks that ran across the road Ran up many a tab in there. Happy days. Cheers.

Hey, i had to went to the bundeswehr in 1974 for 15 months, in the lipperland-kaserne,
Lippstadt-lipperbruch.
we often were in the golden hahn to drink beer. Nice time, but we allways had too few
money.

I was posted to Lippstadt in 1976,and left in 1981.Until now I had forgotten what a beautifull place it is.I have heard that the Churchill Barracks is now a housing estate.Sounds like It could be the UK.I used to drink in The Golden Hahn,when not on duty,and walk through the Rose Gardens sometimes.Times have changed a lot since then.Thank you for the pictures.Gary.
