The statue on the left is of General Warren, Meade's Chief Engineer, whom Meade dispatched to survey the situation on this critical anchor of Meade's left. Warren found it thinly defended with Confederates massing to assault and flank the hill. Warren mustered up sufficient Union reinforcements to defend the hill. The memorial on the right is for the 91st Pennsylvania infantry which became part of the defense. Such monuments are seen all over the battlefield.
