Back side of the block with the oil pan removed. You can see the balance shaft housing on top, the crank underneath. The #1 piston has been removed, so you can see the rod journal on teh crank all the way over on the right... the shiny part with the hole in it. The rod clamps around that and thats how the crank pushes the pistons up and down.
