M51 - The Whirlpool Galaxy shot 7/16/04 using a Meade LX200 and a SBIG ST-237A. 30 x 1 minute of luminance, 5 x 1 minute each RGB channel (RGB shot on 1/25/02 at f/2.1). Trees limited total exposure time for M51. Combined in AstroArt 2.0 and touched up in Adobe PhotoShop 6.0. IC4278 is at about 10 o'clock from M51 and IC4277 is at about 11 o'clock. IC4277 is a 16.5 magnitude galaxy. IC4278 is a 16.0 magnitude galaxy. Reprocessed to deal with some of the noise.
