All of you who have had the wonderful experience of adopting rescue dogs (and cats) will know there are "milestones" that occur at any time after they come home. Some take longer to reveal themselves than others, such as the deep, deep bonding that comes (hopefully) with time. There are a lot of small milestones that come before this and I have been celebrating these this past week as our little guy, now also known as Happy Jack, has been settling in: 1) first tail wags; 2) ate his food; 3) started exhibiting play behavior; 4) comes when called; 5) KISSES; 6) attachment (waiting at the door every time I leave the house); 7) settling into a routine - he has many, now, including asking to be on my lap for snuggles when I sit down at my computer in the morning; and 8) this morning's milestone: actual "hug" AND kisses - Jack approached me unprompted while I was sitting on the floor and first put his paws on my lap and then my shoulders and planted kisses on my face. JOY!! ♥
