IMG_1309-1ds.jpg

#18 - Natural Mono - Had the opportunity for a hike today with my friend,
Lauren, and her pup, Barron, on this very welcome holiday from work.
Visited Greeter Falls, which is part of the South Cumberland State Park
and the Savage Gulf area. This is an amazingly beautiful and relatively
short trail, which brought us to multiple falls, Upper Greeter Falls,
Lower Greeter Falls, Boardtree Falls and countless small cascades.
We will be back! http://www.pbase.com/bellanundo/greeter_falls

Awesome shot, very moody and mysterious.

Nice composition and mood...I can almost hear the water rushing by. Sounds like you had an interesting experience shooting this image...love it when serendipity brings it all together. – Racine

Very cool effect with that shutter speed! Lots to look at in there.

Full of interest.

a very interesting texture abstraction... it is very colourful and not monochrome... there are hundreds of different colours I can see here...
Phillip Normanton19-Jan-2010 21:02
Excellent, almost abstract :o)

What a great result, I really like this as an abstract
Ronald Bijtenhoorn19-Jan-2010 18:35
This is a very nice shot and nearly turned out to be an abstract

In reply to ALI below, I didn't sharpen it. This was how the water appeared at 1/3 of a second, the actual shutter speed (it's not 1.3s). That's what drew me so much to how the water looked. I only increased the contrast a very minimal amount to bring out the stick a bit more and emphasize the "crease" in the water. As photograhers, I think we love it when we apply a technique we've used before and the expected result doesn't occur. It's how we learn! :-)

Very well composed.
It is a great abstract!

Sounds like heaven. Nice relaxing image, good combination of movement and stillness.

For me it looks like a face in the water :)
Mieke WA Minkjan19-Jan-2010 06:50
very impressive, so many things to see in it

Nice little comp, I think it's over-sharpened though, at a 1.3s the water should be all foamy, you've sharpened it so its looks like 1/250 :-)

Very nice abstract image!

Greeter is great :-) Love the contrast in the old branch.

Nice light, exposure and shutter speed make for a mellow zen like image.
