The tragic back-story on this photo is that this horse and another were starving in a corral with no food. They were forced to forage into the trees for anything to eat. I have reported the neglect to a local animal protection agency, but do not know if anything has been done to protect them yet. This photo moved me deeply and I hope that it also moves others to be better stewards of the beautiful creatures of this earth.
