Just the kind of comparison I was looking for, as I've been trying to make an online decision between the two. I'm impressed by the Sony, but the 250D wins it for for me simply because of the slightly higher mag, though at a premium...
I don't understand, Robert... As I mentioned in my introduction - they were all shot on a tripod - that is a constant - and I did not move the tripod! One would expect the distances to be different with a comparison of: no close-up lens and the closeup lenses -I think you are missing the point here - close-up lenses magnify -
The interesting thing here was that the Canon 250D magnifies a little bit more than the Sony...:-) Bee
Your results are not very scientific as the distances change slightly. Anyway, I bought a Hoya +2 Close-up filter because the Canon 250D was out of stock. So far, I have been pleased with the results:http://www.pbase.com/r53lanc/orchids_sing2
