A photo of my companion for the last 15 years. Priss (as she was known)was a female miniature Dachshund who traveled with me when riding the back roads, logging trails and service routes when looking for wildlife. When I would do a walk-about she would guard the vehicle against Raccoon raids and when we returned to the "Point" she was a dinner companion then later sit by the waters edge sniffing and staying near as I offered thanks for that day's sunset. Unlike many dogs of her breed, she did not bark, snoop constantly, but rather just laid within eye contact distance to reassure herself and others she was available if required. Unfortunately with age comes physical deterioration....so she was carried to and from the vehicle and up the stairs for a couple of years. So a couple of days ago, Priss accidently fell into the lake while I was changing lens behind the truck and she drowned without a sound. Hopefully another female will be found with Priss's disposition and manners....then there will be a Priss II sitting to my right. She never was a problem inside or outside of our house.
