My Grandfather with his Father and Stepmother and brother/sister living in a rural 80 acre farm. As a young man he would walk several miles and hitch a ride on a cotton wagon during "pick'n season" and work there at the cotton gin earning enough wages to help his family through the Winter months on their farm.
