At my Grandfather's second department store, the people living out in the country would come to town on Saturdays. So, Daddy George would hold cash drawings late in the afternoons and offer specific items for discount sales.....the people would come, shop and wait and do a little business with him until the late afternoon drawing. A good way to give a customer a chance for some of the prize monies.
