Every Halloween in Gatlinburg the city and merchant celebrate Halloween with the people visiting and the families within the area. Starting at 5PM the merchants begin handing out candy to the youth in and out of costume. Tourist and all get into their costumes and those who don't "dress-out" come into town to see the creativity of the "Trick-or-Treaters". In Gatlinburg, it is the one time during the "Seasons ands" when everyone is happy, laughing, inter acting with each other even if the street/sidewalks are totally crowded. The exceptions to being happy is later in the evening when the young ones are tired and hungry to eat the treats.
