Stephane Grappelli

Pere Lachaise

And we hit all my top spots that I wanted to see in the cemetery
including the famous jazz violinist, Stephane Grappelli’s, repository!
Michael is just amazing. From the photos you can see pretty much everywhere we hit.
My only regret is that we didn’t have time to locate Richard Wright’s spot in the Columbarium
(same place that Grappelli is) because we closed the place down.
In fact, the little cars in the cemetery were driving through blowing their horns
to let everyone know that it was closing.
But we snuck around just in time to find Grappelli’s.
When we reached the gate it was already locked but a guard soon came by to let us out.

This photo was taken for my dear, departed friend, Sandye, who was great friends
with one of Grappelli's most famous students, Nigel Kennedy, who is also a jazz violinist!
For my birthday one year she gave me her autographed copy of Nigel's CD "The Kennedy Experience".
She must have known she would die just a few short months later. It's a CD I treasure.
