In 1928 the Skaggs family came to Tucson from Tennessee and homesteaded 160 acres here. In 1936 they sold the property to the Van Cleves for $32,000 and they changed it into a guest ranch with riding stables which it remains today.
Many movies and TV westerns have been shot around the beautiful desert country surrounding the ranch. Starting with the 1939 classic "ARIZONA", followed by "HOW THE WEST WAS WON" and the James Garner TV show "MAVERICK."
