The ruins of old Southern Arizona Smelting Company are impressive to see.
The town was established in 1907 and existed until the price of copper dropped in 1919. About 2000 people lived here and once the mine closed, the town was deserted quickly.
You can see many structural foundations scattered about the area.
The day I visited several paintball enthusiasts were among the ruins. I understand it's an area where target practice is prevalent so you might want to be careful when you visit.
