The magnificent El Conquistador Hotel opened in 1928 and had many famous guests.
This water tower is one of three parts that remain after the hotel was torn down to make way for El Con Shopping Center. It was designed to supply water to the hotel and Colonia Solana subdivision.
It's designated a Tucson Landmark and can be seen standing tall across the street from the El Con Shopping Center. It was designed by architect Roy Place.
Note: Annie "Rocky" Rockfellow designed the El Conquistador and considered it her finest work. Annie was Arizona's first registered woman architect and the second woman to graduate from MIT.
