On April 22, 1970 this park was founded through the work of Chicano activists and residents of Barrio Logan when it became known that a highway patrol station had been planned for the site. Through their efforts the land was turned over to the community and a park was created.
The colorful, artistic murals are painted on nearby walls and interstate stanchions that run through the neighborhood.
