Frozen!

We are in the middle of a Polar Vortex. This morning it was 6F (-14C). It is only going to
get colder. Monday's low is supposed to be around -2F or -19C! Brrrrrr.

Today I saw something that I've never seen before (and we've lived here almost 12 years!).
A couple men were skating on the Erie Canal!

The canal is officially closed and partially drained during the winter but there's enough
water/ice for these two to play! AND the ice is thick enough to skate on!

Re Laine, it was 40 degrees plus in Canberra! Here in northern France it was just on freezing this morning
but with blue skies and much wanted sunshine!

It's about 120 deg F warmer here so at the opposite end of the scale....tempted by neither as I dislike extremes weather. I'm sure though the young are having lots of fun.

What great captures of those guys skating on the canal. The one in the top picture looks delighted! And I can't even imagine those temperatures, although it's snowing here again. V.
