These are two of the 11 windmills left on the Schermer polder and part of Museummolen
("molen" is the Dutch word for windmill). This windmill is open to museum visitors.

This windmill was one of three used in tandem to drain this portion of the Schermer polder.
Each windmill drains the land a little more than the preceding windmill.

In 1929, the windmills were replaced by electric pumping stations.
