A canal separates Beets from the Beemster polder. Sunrises were spectacular.

It is usually very windy as can be seen by the blurred trees.

The "Netherlands" means "Low Country" in Dutch. Approximately 20% of its land is below sea level and
approximately 50% of the land is less than 1 meter above sea level. Much of the land is protected
from the seas by dikes, man-made walls that are wide enough to drive on. Polders are the land that's
been reclaimed from the sea.
