"The Waste Land"

I believe this is an old landfill site in Mendon, NY as there
are numerous methane gas vents (white pipes) scattered in this field.

The overcast skies are typical at this time of year as the
Great Lakes (Ontario and Erie) are still warm compared to the
surrounding air temperatures. The result is many clouds until
a significant portion of the lakes ice over.
