Hi all,
I just picked up my new recumbent bicycle. This is the Burley Jett Creek, hand built in the USA with 24 speeds. If you like to ride bikes, this IS the ONLY way to go! FAST, FUN, and VERY COMFORTABLE! And it will surely turn a few heads along the way! As you can see by my updates, this bike gets around! EVERYWHERE I go, people young and old, just want to talk about this bike!

Purchased 6/13:-)
*Update 6/20 Bike is 1 week old and I have logged 102 miles :)
*Update 6/29 Bike is 2 weeks and 3 days old and now has 292 Miles!!!
*Update 7/6 Bike is just over 3 weeks old and now has 431 Miles!!! Did 64 miles just today!
*Update 7/11 Bike has 501 miles!
*Update 7/19 Bike has 596 miles!
*Update 7/23 Bike has 678 miles! Riding in the next week is going to be tough..rain 9 out of the next 10 days!
*Update 7/29/04 Bike has 755 miles!
*Update 8/3/2004 Bike has 821 miles and 18 of them were in the granny gear climbing mowed weeds on hills!!! ARGH and never again! :-O
*Update 8/8/04 Bike has 927 miles! I am aiming to hit 1000 miles by 8/13/04 or in 2 months of ownership.
*Update 8/9/04 Bike has 963 as of tonight. Going to push again in the morning... I want to see 1k!
*Update 8/10/04 BIKE HAS 1,000 MILES! Woke up early and rode till I got there! Checking the weather forcast, this was my last chance. Time for a rest!
*Update 8/15/04 Well due to Hurricane Danielle and Charley, not much riding this week! So I went out today and did a Metric Century AKA 62 miles! So 1063 miles!
*Update 8/23/04 Bike has recieved it's 1st flat! Rear, small hole...anyhow, bike has 1176 smiles. This bike is so quiet, I think I am going to name it "Sneaky Creek"! :-P
*Update 9/1/04 Bike has 1,337 miles and I am getting faster all the time. I broke my first spoke too a few days ago. It may be time for stronger wheels!
*Update 9/6/04 Bike has 1,413 miles. Rode to Long Beach and then into Queens (JFK Airport) today. Nice 50 mile round trip.
*Update 9/11/04 Almost all new pictures! Now you can see pictures of my custom mount for the new JBL On Tour self powered multi media speaker system and XM Satellite system. I am using a Delphi SKYFI XM tunner with a car kit for the speaker system.
*Update 9/15/04 bike has 1,517 miles

*Update 10/10/04 1,801 miles. With the day light getting shorter and cooler, I am not riding as much:-(

The ultimate cruiser!	SRAM X9 shifters, 11x34 cassette, SRAM 9.0 derailer, SRAM chain	I mounted the Air Horn under the ultra comfy seat. Insulated bag holds plenty of stuff...	you can see the red air tank bottle for the horn.
Most people think it is a chopper! And the frame design allows for passive suspension.	SRAM 9.0	This is the SKYFI installed!	This is the custom mount for the XM tuner
This side shows the computer and light	The antenne, battery & Spkrs. I slipped a piece of metal into the lid of the bag and this allowed for the magnet to stick!	BUILD SHOTS The bottom of the JBL On Tour is curved so I made this...	BUILD SHOTS It actually has pretty good bass for what it is!

Thanks for your great information. I just bought a Burley Limbo and I have one question. I am having a little trouble gettng used to the motion of the handlebars as they move back and forth. Also if I have to start and go uphill, I have trouble keeping the handlebars from moving back and forth. Can or should they be tightened, or am I just not doing something right? Thanks

Hi Charles, The Burley Sandpoint is a nice bike:) When I first got my bike, I noticed a little recumbent butt after a 20 mile ride. 2 weeks later, it was gone and I could ride as long as the legs would hold out. It is VERY important to have the seat adjusted PERFECTLY! If you find a comfort problem, adjust a little and ride some more. I have made great changes in comfort as well as speed buy just moving the seat a tiny bit. As for the hot feet, I ride with a BMX large "bear trap" style pedal and sandles...no problems ever. As for the suspension frame, the rear is GREAT but the front is hard. Combined with a 20" wheel and no shocks meand I avoid big bumps. It is funny that Burley added a real shock to the rear and nothing for the front! If Burley made a suspension fork, I would buy it! (Can't use a normal suspension fork as the rake is off) I highly recomend Burley but as I am sure you know...test ride!!!

Brian, I am thinking of getting a Burley Sandpoint for the wife......do you ever experience "recumbent butt" with the seating position? What about numb feet....ever? I have a rans V Squared and have numb feet problems sometimes but will be buying cycling sandals soon. I have some clipped MTB shoes but they were worse than my sport shoes.Just wonder what the seat/crank position does for that whole issue. I like the mods that you have done and like the idea of the passive suspension frame design coupled with the 275 pound weight limit.I wish I could have purchased one of these before I bought my present bike. I could have saved about $500 also. I putting a stereo on my bike also!!!! Thanks for the inspiration/idea.

Hi Brian, I just wanted to say that your Jett Creek pics are great, and I love the mods that you've done on them, especially the Delphi XM radio tuner! You've clocked almost 2,000 miles on it....has the Burley seatbase been comfortable enough for you? I've read a lot of owner comments where they felt the seat base was too hard or firm for their liking. I used to own a Burley Django swb, and, while I thought the Corbin leather seat base was satisfactory, I thought that it could definitely be a little cushier. The reason I mention this is because Calhoun Cycle, who invented the Evolution Pro handlebars, now market a seatbase with the legendary Rans seat cushion, couple with micro-tilt hardware that will fit your Burley! They sell it for about $110, and I hear it's been a great success....just fyi...take care! Geoff Yuen/"sukispop" on BROL and the Bike Forums
