Scorpio

This is a Stamos 44ft ketch. Displacement of 39,000lbs with a 13ft beam.

- Sleeps 5 in two cabins plus pilot berth
- Tankage for 300 gallons of diesel and 150 gallons of water.
- 65 horsepower diesel engine
- Water maker with an output of 15 gallons per hour.
- 1200 amp hours of deep cycle batteries installed feeding a 2000 watt inverter.
- 8 KW diesel generator when not on shore power
- Full galley with built-in microwave, refrigerator, freezer, trash compactor, double sink.
Galley appliances can be run on 2000 watt inverter when not on shore power or generator.
- Two heads with showers
- Large capacity water heater (propane or electric)
- Central heat and air
- Washer and dryer
- 30 mile radar
- Two autopilots using GPS
- Two steering stations (cockpit and main cabin)
- Electric winches operated from cockpit
- VHF radio for short range and HF radio for long range communication
- Sail system drops sails into permanent sail bags, allowing for raising and lowering of main
and mizzen sails without leaving cockpit. Forward sail deployed and furled with rotating
drum. (Sail system in above photo replaced after photo was taken)
- Three point main sail reefing system operated from cockpit
- Boat has been rigged to allow single-handed operation, if necessary. It is sailed by my wife
and I under normal operation.
