It is difficult to convey, in 5 still photos, the passage of time as a man-made structure is deconstructed over the course 9 months. This series, of the demolition of the old Bridgepoint Hospital in Riverdale, represents man made entropy; the crumbling of an iconic building not by natural decay but by deliberate intent.
The exhibition will consist of a series of photographs, taken from different vantage points at intervals of no more than a few days, showing the full scope of the effort and beauty of deconstruction.
From the lush beginnings in spring, to the harsh end in winter, the photographs convey a sense of loss, desolation, and at last, hope. The 5 images presented here each represent a stage in the process.
