Earthship Biotecture

Near Taos New Mexico.

Construction is of all recycled materials. Totally off the grid, all water is rainwater filtered and re-used, electric is solar. The back of the home is built virtually underground using very heavy discarded tires filled with densely compacted earth. Temperature is kept constant by this "thermal mass" with very little solar boost needed to raise the temp in winter, and a constant cooling effect in summer. Skylight openings allow heat to escape as needed. The front of the home inside becomes a greenhouse with an interior garden!
