A note from the Director:THE FIRST IMPRESSION of this show based upon its title can be misleading. This show is not a group of women delivering monologues about their vaginas for the purpose of complaining about their oppression in a male dominated world, rather it is a group of women delivering a message of awareness. We, all women aroung the world wo participate in this show, perform this play to shed light on many issues, some personal and others global issues - such as rape, spousal abuse, and the murder of women.
The writer, Eve Ensler, travelled all around the world asking women of all races and nationalities about their feelings and what they must overcome as women living in their society. These monologues are a compilation of all the interviews that she conducted. Some of these monologues are funny and light-hearted, while others are heavy-hearted and carry a somber theme that affect every one.
This production is performed around the world as a fund raiser to all the women of the world who are not celebrated as much as they should be. We are donating all of our proceeds to the Megan Project with Safe Harbor Women's Shelter for women and girls who have been beaten or abused and to raise awareness about spousal abuse, especially to the teenage population. The word has to be spread and the violence must stop. We should all make a greater effort to embrace the V-Day mission statement which is the core of this production, "We will not stop until the violence stops."
