Tactile

I do read books on a Kindle, especially when I travel.
But I love the feel of a proper book, and that subtle woody smell of paper in a genuine bookshop.

An ebook is no book for me! So this is a attractive image V

I still buy lots of books. I find it hard to read a book on an electronic display. V.

So much to read, where should I start?

I delightful image. V

A wonderful scene! Unfortunately, there don't seem to be many bookstores left, at least not here.
Nirvan Hope11-Nov-2016 17:23
An immense wealth of scientific knowledge on those shelves! What brilliant minds those books represent!

Some interesting titles, but think I will stick mainly to the digital versions.

Nothing beats a hardcover :)

It's so much fun looking at all the titles.

Yep, I still prefer books made with paper. This is a good shot!

You probably didn't intend this photo to lead to a discussion thread on ebooks vs paper, but I'll throw my 2¢ in anyway: as a voracious reader of (mostly) paperbacks, I approached a hand-me-down Kindle with caution. I still have my "to-re-read someday" library of several hundred books, but I have only bought one since acquiring the Kindle about 14 months ago, and found I hated reading it despite it being by a favourite author. It's just too clumsy, with its requirement of a two-page spread. (I do most of my reading in bed.)

Maybe a next version of e-reader can incorporate the smell and feel of a book. (Come on you entrepreneurs out there, get busy:-)

That is a lot of heavy reading! Well captured, Bill..

Yes, a book to me is more satisfying to use than a Kindle.

Wow! I too thought you had a bookcase of deep reading.
I tend to carry around a small book of some description all the time in my jacket , rucksack or car.
For those moments in a queue . ( Not traffic )

fabulous, an everyday sight to often missed...

I was wondering why you had so many copies of some titles then realised that this is a bookstore rather than your bookcase. It's been about a year since I bought my last (physical) book. The problem I have with them is that they are too big and bulky to cram into my bag on the off chance that I can grab some time to read. The Kindle is light, small and I have access to dozens of books for those moments, rarer than I'd care for them to be...
I do however give you full marks for the section that you opted to photograph. I bestow upon you the Gold Star Of The Ancient Order Of Nerds and Geeks (General Maths And Science Division).
