Traditional Wooden Church

Bucharest, Romania

This church dates from the early 1700s and was moved from a village in the Carpathian Mountains to the living museum in Bucharest.
The museum is fascinating, with relocated original buildings from all over the country.
I spent a lovely sunny morning at the museum before heading off the airport (from where I am uploading) to fly home.

It's probably very wrong of me to do so but when I read the caption I immediately thought of some poor Carpathian sheep herder coming home in his heavy, shaggy overcoat from a long and blustery day of work in the mountains and saying "What... where's my house? Where did it go??" as a semi trailer lumbers down the road with it toward Bucharest.

Excellent capture of this church, the kind of thing I would have loved to have seen in Romania, had we ever gone.

Fascinating construction. I'd hate to have to apply the shingles
