Cullen Skink

Home made soup for a cold day. Cullen skink is made from smoked haddock, potatoes and onions. The closest equivalent would be a chowder but without the corn or saltines.
Cullen is a fishing town in Scotland, after which the soup is named, and skink is an old Scots word for a broth.

And last year was garlicky.

Or possibly a mispronunciation of another similar word.
No disrespect to Scottish cuisine (I even have Skirlie Mirlie from time to time) but I like my fish as fillets. Mmmm, grilled Barramundi. However Barramundi do not do well in Scottish waters unless they're given Argyle jumpers to wear, so you take what you can get.

Funny, I was looking at a recipe for that today, except I had plain unsmoked haddock. Planning to try it.
