Frustrated Duck

I am very frustrated, and keep asking "What the Duck?"
I travel a lot, and want to reduce the load of kit to carry. So I bought a baby Sony RX100, which is great.
Next, to upload on the move, I got a small Samsung tablet. Then the problems started.
First, the tablet doesn't run normal Photoshop, so I bought the tablet version Photoshop Touch.
Second, the tablet only has a micro SD card slot, so I had to get a new card and adapter.
Third, after a bit of a trial, I found Photoshop Touch only reads small jpgs, and the standard ones from the Sony are too large.
Fourth, between Photoshop and Samsung, the damn jpgs aren't showing in the documents folder, so I can't find them to upload to PBase.
And that was the whole point of this pointless exercise. So back to the duck and my heavy laptop.

And here we were thinking the digital age would make photography so much easier and accessible. Stiff upper bill and duck it out.

Bill:

What I found works well is to get a mini IPad. Load on IPhoto and get the Pbase app.

You then need to shoot in either jpeg or jep+RAW. The IPad and IPhoto can only handle jpeg images. However they load in very easily. You can then process the images in IPhoto and load up to Pbase from the Pbase app. Besides the mini IPad, the only expense is the for IPhoto. It was cheap, less than $10.00 Canadian.

IPhoto is nothing close to being as good as Photoshop or Lightroom, but it is more than adequate when you are traveling. Most restaurants, coffee shops, and hotels have free Wi-Fi. I use a Blackberry as a cell phone and it has a mobile hot spot. So as long as I have cell coverage, I also have Wi-Fi. My cell package provides this service free. Here is a link to what I used when I was on a holiday in the USA.

All the images in this gallery were done as noted above. For my trip to England I gave it a pass, only because I knew I would be too tired at night to sit down and work on images.

I hope this helps.

By the way, nice photo.

Life confronts us with many problems, no need to crack, just quack. V

Doesn't the rx100M3 use Bluetooth or Wifi? Also, you can try the free downloadable PhotoScape program which has a lot of features and is very easy to operate. I use it on my notebook and like it very much.

I love the capture, nice job with the new camera! But what a headache. I always bring a laptop when I travel so haven't run into this problem. On our last weekend trip that we ended up having to cancel because of Sahraa being ill, I didn't want to bring the computer so was just going to store everything I took on cards. But you travel for longer periods, so that wouldn't work too well for you, plus you couldn't post anything while away.

So many technical issues, I use the X-T1 - wifi to apple mini and PS although I never us it!
