Roman Nails

A little bit of archaeology.
These are roman nails that were excavated from the Legionary Fort at Inchtuthil, Scotland.
They had been buried for almost 2000 years, and we can use them to estimate long-term corrosion rates.

when traveling in Italy in 1975 we had to cross a bridge made by the Romans rather than one made in 1945 as it was not as safe as the old one, some things are just made better, wonderful capture!! BV

That's FANTASTIC! It's so cool to see something that old. They look in darn good shape, too.
