Tubman University (TU), located in Harper, Maryland County, Liberia, has been trying to get together an aquaculture program so students could take the information they learn here out to other parts of a country for which fish is a large part of the diet. For people living on the coast, there is no problem getting at least some kind of fish, but further inland there is. This was a USAID (United States Agency for International Development) Farmer-to-Farmer project executed through Winrock International. I was the volunteer they sent for three weeks to help TU get going, I have a Ph.D. in Fisheries and Aquaculture from Auburn University and I have done many of these projects in Africa and Asia. Just getting there was the hardest part of this project as you can see from some of the first few photographs.
