Developing Nations

For the past 22 years, I have spent months and years in developing nations through the Peace Corps, the United States Agency for International Development's (USAID) Farmer-to- Farmer program, and some Jesuit friends. I taught mostly small scale farmers how to build fish ponds and raise enough fish to feed their families and maybe make enough money to buy some medicine, pay for school for their children and perhaps buy a bale of second-hand clothes from the US and European nations. The issues we have in developed countries are not commonly those people have in developing nations. Their needs are much are much more basic than ours typically are.
